When You’re as Cold as Ice, Do Not Sacrifice Your Orchids Over the Winter Months

  • Orchids under cover need to be watered from time to time
  • If you don’t have any additional heat they can be allowed to dry out somewhat between watering
  • For those who have some warmth, they can be kept moist
  • Continue with regular applications of snail bait
  • Keep an eye out for aphids on developing spikes, particularly on the early flowering natives
  • For some of us, need to watch out for mice and rats
    • One or two solid block baits nailed or screwed to a piece of wood seems to be the way to go

For further tips and ideas, on how to care for Orchids during Cooler Months and other practical advice, why not come along to our next Monthly Meeting:

Next meeting | Wednesday 1st August, 2018 at 8.00 pm (Early session 7.30 pm)
