The Judges Vote | The Popular Vote
At most of SSOS meetings, members have an opportunity to ‘bench’ their flowering orchids for judging. This allows discussion on orchid culture and lets other members appreciate the beauty of the flowering orchid. Plants must be owned and grown by the exhibitor (member) for a minimum of 6 months. There are three sections in which to enter the competition:
Novice | Intermediate | Open
A panel of OSCOV affiliated Judges will decide the winner of each section and the overall winner for the night – The Judges Vote.
SSOS allows its members to vote for their favourite plant on show at each monthly meeting as well. Voting is conducted anonymously and the plant which has the most votes wins the Popular Vote award for the night.
- On most occasions, what the people like is vastly different to what the Judges like, but occasionally we all agree!
