Welcome to the Southern Suburbs Orchid Society Inc. – “Where Friends Meet”.
The Southern Suburbs Orchid Society Inc. (SSOS) was formed in 1992 by a small group of orchid enthusiasts from the Bayside area of South East Melbourne. The SSOS is one of 30 orchid societies which are a member of the Orchid Societies Council of Victoria (OSCOV) which acts as a representative body to coordinate the activities and to act as a forum at state level. These societies are equal members and not merely affiliates of some other body.
The Southern Suburbs Orchid Society (SSOS) meets on the first Wednesday of each month (except January) at the:
N.G.Wishart Senior Citizens Hall,
964 Nepean Hwy,
Moorabbin.

- The night starts at 7.30 p.m. with ‘The Early Session’ for members.
- The main meeting begins at 8.00 p.m.
- Features include an invited guest speaker, talking on advanced Orchid culture.
- A flowering competition is held at each meeting. with members bringing in their flowering plants to exhibit.
- Presentation of bench winners is the last part of the meeting.
- At the conclusion of the meeting members and visitors enjoy light refreshments.
