8 Weeks To Go to the Show – Do You Think This is an Orchid?

masd machu piccu1This is an orchid variety known as a Masdevallia.

Southern Suburbs Orchid Society Club LogoMasdevallias are popular because they make small, compact, easily managed pot-plants, which are a distinct advantage for those with limited growing space and make suburb flowering plants for apartment dwellers.

Many Masdevallia collections provide an assortment of colourful blooms every day of the year, whilst others flower only once a year.

If  you are fascinated by these marvelous flowering specimens, then you need to come along to the  Southern Suburbs Orchid Society (SSOS), Spring Show, where we will be showing off our splendid Australian native and exotic orchid collections, including flowering Masdevallias.

This is why we open our doors, show off our award-winning plants and help solve your most vexing questions about orchids, their culture and celebrate the fascinating world of the Orchid genus at our splendid “Orchid Show and Sales Extravaganza”.
