This is an orchid variety known as a Masdevallia.
Masdevallias are popular because they make small, compact, easily managed pot-plants, which are a distinct advantage for those with limited growing space and make suburb flowering plants for apartment dwellers.
Many Masdevallia collections provide an assortment of colourful blooms every day of the year, whilst others flower only once a year.

This is why we open our doors, show off our award-winning plants and help solve your most vexing questions about orchids, their culture and celebrate the fascinating world of the Orchid genus at our splendid “Orchid Show and Sales Extravaganza”.
