It’s Awesome!

Awesome Show | Awesome Judging | Awesome Winners

During these unprecedented times during the Covid-19 lock-downs and restrictions, the Southern Suburbs Orchid Society (SSOS) decided to create a unique Annual Spring Show with a difference. For the first time in Victoria, and possibly in Australia, SSOS went ahead and created a 2020 inaugural Virtual Spring Show which is viewable now on our 2020 Virtual Spring Show Champions page.

Members from SSOS submitted more than 100 plants for judging by an accredited panel of judges from the Orchid Societies Council of Victoria (OSCOV). The judges awarded First and Second Prizes to entries from our three Club member sections NOVICE, INTERMEDIATE and OPEN.

  • From these, they short-listed and agreed upon overall champion winners within showing categories such as Cymbidium, Paphiopedilum, Australian Native Hybrids and more.
  • To choose an overall winner, they reviewed the Champions from each category and section and decided upon the overall Champion of the Show and Reserve Champion. What a competition!

(Open Section Champion, Champion Cymbidium)
Cymbidium Valley Splash ‘Awesome’ [Grower: Chris Scerri]
